Serge Fiori – Seul Ensemble

Following the immense wave of love that has swept across Quebec since last June 24, and in accordance with one of Serge Fiori’s final wishes, a fully updated version of Serge Fiori – Seul Ensemble will soon come to life. This new edition will bring together the most powerful moments from the 2019 production—an acclaimed work that captivated both critics and audiences, selling more than 50,000 tickets before being halted by the pandemic. This long-awaited return is guided by the same artistic ambition: to offer a bold, sensitive, and visually striking reinterpretation of Fiori’s vast musical legacy, a legacy that resonates now more than ever.

Filled with emotion, this revival marks the return of Cirque Éloize, a key creative partner of the original production. Under the direction of Benoit Landry – who conceived the initial staging and whose artistic vision has recently shone in the musical Chicago—the show will take on an enhanced, even more dynamic form. New artistic sequences will enrich the experience, notably through the integration of Kwe! – the final musical project uniting the 11 Indigenous communities of Quebec, a work Serge cared for deeply. As for the sets and costumes, they will be entirely reimagined: the originals were lost during the August 16, 2024 flood caused by a major aqueduct rupture near Montreal’s Jacques-Cartier Bridge. A brand-new scenography will be created to bring this thoroughly reinvented universe to life.

At the heart of the production remains the music of Serge Fiori, the essential thread and true driving force of the project. Arrangements will again be crafted by Louis-Jean Cormier and Alex McMahon – artistic heirs of Serge - who will offer a contemporary, respectful, and deeply inspired reinterpretation of his work. Audiences will be invited to discover or rediscover the richness and emotional depth of his musical universe, songs that continue to transcend eras, unite generations, and fuel Quebec’s collective imagination. This new edition of Serge Fiori – Seul Ensemble stands as a vibrant tribute, a gesture of love and remembrance, and a celebration of Serge’s art carried forward into the future.
