TWO EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCES ON MAY 29 AND 30, 2026
TICKETS ON SALE THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 20 AT 10 AM, AT EVANGELINEMUSICAL.CA
Montreal, Tuesday, June 17, 2025 — Following its upcoming runs in Montreal, Quebec City, and Moncton starting next February, Évangéline | The Musical Show — North America’s greatest love story — will also grace the banks of the Saint Lawrence River at Amphithéâtre Cogeco in Trois-Rivières for two unforgettable evenings on May 29 and 30, 2026. Tickets for these new performances will go on sale this Friday at 10 AM on evangelinemusical.ca. Prior to that, a presale will be offered to subscribers of Amphithéâtre Cogeco’s newsletter starting Thursday, June 19 at 10 AM.
Featuring an impressive cast including Maude Cyr-Deschênes (Évangéline), Olivier Dion (Gabriel), Matthieu Lévesque (Baptiste), Nathalie Simard (Sister Marguerite), Laurent Lucas (Father Félix), Océane Kitura Bohémier-Tootoo (Hanoah), and Raphaël Butler (Beausoleil), this musical epic — directed and staged by Jean-Jacques Pillet — tells the poignant story of Évangéline and Gabriel, two legendary lovers. The libretto was co-written by Caroline Cloutier.
Premiering in February 2026, Évangéline | The Musical Show — the most significant original creation in Gestev’s history — celebrates unwavering love, stronger than war and betrayal, as well as Acadian identity through the fate of two young lovers separated during the Great Expulsion of 1755. Presented with a strikingly cinematic, poetic, contemporary, and modern aesthetic, the production features epic scenes and spectacular, innovative stage design.
Évangéline Bellefontaine and Gabriel Lajeunesse originate from an 1837 poem by American poet Henry W. Longfellow titled Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie. They have come to symbolize the resilience, courage, and kindness of an entire people. The musical show is freely inspired by this poem.
Music at the Heart of Évangéline | The Musical Show
An anthem to unwavering love, the song Des amants légendaires (“Legendary Lovers”), written by Frédérick Baron — also co-librettist — and composed by Steve Marin, is the first single from Évangéline’s original soundtrack. Released in March, this moving piece echoes lovers separated by exile and sets the tone for a musical universe rich with 22 original songs. Des amants légendaires is now available on radio and all major streaming platforms. The full Évangéline | The Musical Show soundtrack will be released this fall under the Musicor label. Renowned French pianist and musical director Yvan Cassar produced the album and crafted its magnificent arrangements.
