Vivre malgré tout
A New Single from Évangéline | The Musical Show to Celebrate Acadian National Day!
THE ALBUM OF ÉVANGÉLINE | THE MUSICAL SHOW
AVAILABLE OCTOBER 2, 2025
Montreal, August 15, 2025 — On this Acadian National Day, Maude Cyr-Deschênes, Olivier Dion, Raphaël Butler, and the entire cast of Évangéline | The Musical Show — North America’s greatest love story — Vivre malgré tout, the second single from this original new creation that audiences will be able to discover starting February 5 next year. A true anthem of resilience and unity for the Acadian community, Vivre malgré tout is an uplifting and rhythmic Cajun song — a call to celebration and music; an invitation to savor the present moment, to live, love, and continue hoping despite hardships. Written by Frédérick Baron — also co-librettist of the show — with festive music by Steve Marin and arrangements by Yvan Cassar, the track was recorded between Montreal and Moncton, with the production team collaborating with members of the Acadian group Vishtèn for some instrumental recordings.

BothVivre malgré tout and Des amants légendaires — the first single released earlier this year — will appear on the moving and warm soundtrack of Évangéline | The Musical Show, to be released Thursday, October 2, 2025, under the Musicor label. The album will also include eleven other brand-new songs, all written by Frédérick Baron and composed by Steve Marin, along with a fourteenth track — a well-known favorite — completing this impressive collection. At a time when many musicals rely on existing hits, Évangéline boldly takes on the rare challenge of offering a completely original musical work from start to finish.
The Évangéline | The Musical Show soundtrack will be available in physical format, accompanied by a special edition of Échos Vedettes magazine revealing, among other things, behind-the-scenes details of the album recording and the creation of this major production — the most important in Gestev’s history. The album is also available for preorder now on all digital platforms.
Évangéline | The Musical Show is expected to premiere in Montreal on February 5, before touring Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, and Moncton. Featuring an outstanding cast led by Maude Cyr-Deschênes (Évangéline), Olivier Dion (Gabriel), Matthieu Lévesque (Baptiste), Nathalie Simard (Sister Marguerite), Laurent Lucas (Father Félix), Océane Kitura Bohémier-Tootoo (Hanoah), and Raphaël Butler (Beausoleil), this musical epic — directed and staged by Jean-Jacques Pillet — recounts the moving story of Évangéline and Gabriel, two legendary lovers. The libretto was co-written by Caroline Cloutier.
Freely inspired by the 1837 poem by American Henry W. Longfellow, Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie, which gave life to the characters Évangéline Bellefontaine and Gabriel Lajeunesse, the show celebrates an enduring love stronger than war and betrayal, as well as Acadian identity, through the fate of these two young lovers separated during the Great Expulsion of 1755. Presented with a cinematic, poetic, and contemporary aesthetic, the production features multiple epic scenes and unique, surprising stage design.
