
Green, supportive and responsible
Gestevert was created in 2009 with a common desire of employees to formalize our approach to sustainable development.
Gestev was has been certified as a responsible event manager by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ) since 2011. Its BNQ-9700-253 certification is supported by its internal sustainable development program, Gestevert.
Gestev is very proud of this certification, which reflects its commitment to developing, implementing and promoting environmentally and socially responsible practices.
Our commitment
At all our BNQ (9700-253)-classified events, we pursue six sets of objectives:

1. Waste management to reduce the amount of garbage generated
- 6-stream waste management system (recycling, composting, returnable containers, hazardous wastes, construction materials, garbage);
- Recover more than 70% of wastes in order to limit the amount of garbage generated per person per day
- Distribute surplus food to organizations that help people in need
- Recover coroplast sheets

2. Awareness-raising, education, innovation
- On-site green squad
- Training on sustainable development for employees
- Communication strategy on sustainable initiatives
- Communications with stakeholders about sustainable development

3. Greenhouse gas reduction
- Provide a shuttle service for employees, volunteers and athletes
- Support car-pooling by employees, volunteers and visitors
- Provide on-site accommodations for employees
- Report greenhouse gas emissions generated by employees, volunteers, athletes and visitors
- Symbolically offset greenhouse gas emissions that cannot be avoided

4. Responsible energy use
- At least 80% of suppliers within 300 km of event site
- Green communication plan
- At least 80% renewable energy
- Priority to local products

5. Community involvement and economic efficiency
- At least 5% of suppliers are non-profits or cooperatives
